Distribution: Brazil: Bahia

Habitat: saxicolous in shallow soils on horizontal rocky outcrops at the top of inselbegs, or on its nearly bare steep rocky slopes, a heliophile that forms small group of plants scattered in the area, ca 300 m. Elev.

Etymology: The Greek prefix “pseudo” is used to mark something that appears to be one thing but is something else. It indicates here that this new species is a “false” Orthophytum estevesii, its likely closest morphological relative.
