Habitat: terrestrial in the understory of the high elevation cloud forests, 3000−3700 m. Elev.

Etymology: The specific epithet transandina is derived from Latin trans (across) and andinus (of the Andes), referring to the species’ distribution across multiple branches of the northern Andes
