Rio Negro, on rocks along stream, on outcrops of quartzite in savannas and gallery forests near and north of Cerro Vinilla, ca. 30 km SSW from Ocamo, along streams tributary to the Rio Orinoco, 440-600 m alt, Lat 2°31'N, Long. 65º23'W, 1-2 March 1984, Steyermark; Berry & Delascio 130318-A (holotype US. isotype, VEN)

Distribution: VENEZUELA; Amazonas, (Cerro Vinilla and vicinity, Raudal de los Guaharibos along upper Rio Orinoco, Sierra de Unturan)

Habitat: Rocky slopes, exposed dry places in savannas, in crevices and along streams on granite rocks, 300-600 m. Elev.

Etymology: Named after Paul Berry, one of the collectors of the type specimen
