Habitat: 200-400 m. Elev.

Etymology: Neoregelia rubrovittata owes its name to the Latin terms ruber; rubra, rubrum, that is, "red ", " color of blood or fire" , plus vittatus (= "marked by stripes") in a clear reference to the leaves which have blood-red crossbands.
