Type: BRAZIL: Espirito Santo: Municipio de Serra, about 6 km from the city of Serra along Br 101 road, ca. 200 m, May 15,1987, flowered in cultivation May-June 1990. EMC. Leme, R. Menescal & R. Bello 1114 (holotype, HB). Etymology: The epithet refers to the coriaceus leaves.

Habitat: in a dry shrubby vegetation, growing as a terrestrial under partially shady places, in very small spreading populations, ca 200 m. Elev.
