Distribution: BRAZIL; Pernambuco,

Phenology: flowers from June to November. Although this plant is typically bat-pollinated, in Serra do OroŽruba the hummingbird, Amazilia fimbriata, often visits these flowŽers around 9 a.m. when nectar is still available. The capsules proŽduce a huge number of seeds, with falciform wings that aid in wind dispersal.
