Distribution: BRAZIL; Rio Grande do Sul,

Habitat: hillsides, rocky faces and spillways of waterfalls,, 500 m. Elev.

Etymology: The name of this new species makes reference the fibrous and rigid consistence of the leaves, which are difficult to cut or to break.

Phenology: It flowers from November to January.
