Distribution: BRASIL: Rio Grande do Sul

Habitat: Inhabits the rocky basalt chasms

Etymology: the specific epithet refers to the environment where the species was found, chasma = abyss and phyto = plant in Latin, i.e. plant of the abyss.

Phenology: Blooms from October to December, fruits from November to January.
