Habitat: growing on steep cliffs, on thin, humid soils, in shady places., 700-800 m. Elev.

Etymology: Named after Roberto Kautsky, a Brazilian bromeliad and orchid collector, who grows many endangered species, especially from Espirito Santo state, in his own mountain sanctuary.
