11829 - Bromeliads (Garden) - 2014-10-17 (Dimension: 2030 x 1550 pixels - Counter: 17028) Guzmania calamifolia Locality: Ecuador - Unknown - Obtained from Harry Luther at Selby June of 1992. Flowering now in my greenhouse in Ohio. Photographer: Jerry Raack Note: Plant flowering 36cm tall. Leaves 69cm long X 1 cm wide, heavily ribbed and gracefully arching. Scape 7.6cm tall (lowest bract to top of inflorescence). Scape 7.6cm long, bracts 2.5 cm long. White flowers. Very difficult plant for me to keep the inflorescence color from turning brown prematurely as it dislikes heat immensely. Requires constant moisture.
