- Add Note: Guillermo Rivera (2014-02-10) - I run into this same plant on a tour. I know exactly where to find it, and it is near Cutervo. Someone suggested T porphyrocraspeda to me also. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Add Note: Peter Tristram (2014-02-10) - Thanks for the info, Guillermo. Do you have any photos of what you saw too?
- Add Note (11345): Peter Tristram (2014-02-11) - Thanks for that info, George. Can you tell me where that plant was growing in Ecuador? It looks a lot like the plant I have posted before - yellow spike and greenish flowers, that is proposed to be published as T. aureispica though I don't know when (or if for sure). I have plants that seem to fit this taxon too.
- Add Note (11341): Jerry Raack (2014-02-12) - Nice job posting the piece parts Peter. Who has done some study on this group of similar plants, does anyone know? When I compare pictures of this plant with what I posted and Eric identified as Tillandsia olmosana var pachamamae (Originally posted as Vriesia cylindrica), I'm hard pressed to see any significant differences other than color. Admittedly, I did not pull my inflorescence apart, but the closeup photos of the inflorescence and flowers sure look the same. I have another of my plants coming into bloom in a week or two, I'll pull it apart and do as you did with yours for comparison. Do you have some overall dimensions of your yellow form that you can post here (total height, width, length and width of leaves)? Does anyone in the USA have this plant and would like to trade me one for one of my T/V that I posted?
